Last night when we got home from work, there was a message on the answering machine from Lieb Cellars, one of the wineries we have a wine club membership to and definitely our favorite winery out east. They are hosting a members-only barrel tasting this Sunday afternoon. And, as luck would have it, we'll be out that way anyway for Liz and John's wedding Saturday night...so we signed up for the 12:30 session. I think we get a tour of the barrel room and, of course, we'll be doing some tasting.
I can't wait. We've been a member of their wine club ever since our first visit...and we've had to turn down invitations to several member events because they always seem to fall on weekend when we're out of town or otherwise occupied.
I have also been emailing with the manager of the tasting room this week...and he's going to sell us a bottle of their 1994 sparkling Pinot Blanc...from their library (they only have 10 bottles left!). That's going to be a real treat. Maybe we'll open it when my future in-laws visit in a few week. And, I have a feeling that we're going to learn about some wines on Sunday that we'll just have to buy.
I'm such a sucker for wine...I could go wine shopping every day. I love just wandering around wine shops for hours...reading labels and asking the shop owners for recommendations. Sometime very soon I'll have to write a little article about some of my favorite wine shops in the area.
