When someone mentions pink wine, do you think of cheap white zinfandel? I know that I used to, back before I knew much about wine.
I've since seen the light.
There are some delicious, bone dry pinks wines available that actually have flavor and complexity...and there are some great ones made here on Long Island.
I'm working on a story on Long Island Pink Wines for Valentine's Day and I could use some help. Why?
I'm gathering samples from at least a dozen Long Island wineries...and that's just too much wine for Nena and I to drink alone (at least in one sitting).
If you're interested in joining us for the "blind" tasting (the bottles will be covered so we'll not know which wine is which), send me an email and let me know.
Tentatively, I'm shooting for Saturday, January 29 at about 6:00 p.m.
We'll taste each, talk about them and, ultimately, pick some favorites.
I can even teach you a little about wine tasting if you're interested.
Feel free to bring some cheese and crackers or other little nibbles to go along with the wines, which should range from slightly sweet (similar to white zinfandel) to bone dry and crisp, unlike any pink wine you've probably tasted.
Oh, come on! I want to come! Why oh why do I have to live so far away from everyone!
