Interesting. Very interesting indeed.
I've always respected Eric's writing and his knowledge of both wine and food (even if I don't always agree with what he has to say) and I think it lends credence to the power of blogs that people like Eric are joining the fray.
How is this going to change wine blogging as a whole? I think that remains to be seen, but I think that bloggers who want to make a name for themselves will most certainly have to up their games. Eric writes for a living (giving him more time to devote to it) and has access to resources that most of us can only dream of. That's a big leg up I think. Plus, he's a damn good writer.
But at the same time, is "blogging" just about posting on a blog or is it more? I think it's more...it's interacting with the blog community, responding to comments, and engaging in email discussions with readers and fellow bloggers. Is that going to happen with The Pour? Again, that remains to be seen, but seeing that his most recent post has 95 comments on it...how can anyone possibly keep up?
Welcome to the wine blogging world, Mr. Asimov. This should be fun.
