ost of us in the food and wine blogging community qualify as foodies and wine geeks. That means that we make things from scratch instead of just buying it -- things like salad dressing, ketchup, marinara or even duck confit. We buy local, organic ingredients when we can instead of mass-produced and shipped-around-the-world junk.
We're members of Slow Food. We've joined CSA programs. We seek out free-range, organic meats.
We don't eat at McDonalds. We don't eat Doritos. We don't eat Hostess Cupcakes. Or do we?
I get accused of being a "food snob" all the time, and I bet you do too. So today, my fellow culinary bloggers and readers, I challenge you to dispell that myth and come forward with your anti-foodie habits. As much as we hide or deny, we all have our weaknesses.
What's my guilty pleasure? There are many, but probably the most egregious is Entenmann's Rich Frosted donuts. Yeah, those dry, disgustingly mass produced donuts covered in that almost-crunchy layer of waxy "chocolate."
Fess up. What junk food or drink do you love?

God, I love those doughnuts! And Doritos!
But, my favorite guilty pleasure, the one that gets me out late at night to the nearest 7-11 is...
Hostess Cupcakes.
I peel the chocolate layer off the top and eat that first. Then, I eat the chocolate cake a little at a time until I get to the vanilla-creme filling--oh, that's great stuff. Then I down the rest of the cupcake.
Since they're two in a package I get to do that twice.
For good reason I don't keep these in the house. I just crave them from time to time, especially after sushi. Go figure.

Krispy Kreme doughnuts hot, but not with wine ;-) That match would have to be white cheddar cheese curds with a heary Zin or Sangiovese.

Gosh, I have too many! Domino's Thin Crust Pizza w/ bacon and Chipwiches get eaten far too frequently around my house. Actually, everything gets eaten too frequently around my house...lol

Little Debbie's marshmallow treats: you can make them easily but yours won't taste the same at all.

Cheetos!! I have a strong affinity for fake orange cheese. When I'm feeling "healthy" I go for Trader Joe's Reduced Fat Cheese Crunchies. MMMMMM

The break-and-bake Toll House cookies. Keep 'em in the fridge and pop them in the toster oven when you want just one warm, fresh-baked cookie. Mmmmmm.

Onion Dip!
A packet of Maggi instant onion soup and a tin of Nestle Reduced Cream - if you are feeling real flash you can put some freshly ground pepper and a squeeze of lemon in it.

Fritos... My love for them is so great that I (almost) wasn't mad when my husband brought some home for me on Valentine's Day. (No, not along with flowers...no chocolate or champagne, either. Just Fritos. To his credit, he did wrap them nicely.)

Payday bars. They're fabulous, sweet and salty. Fortunately you can't get them in the UK, so I rely on what I can fit in my luggage, or what my suppliers will bring over to me at any time.

BBQ Pringles dipped in a swirl of Heinz tomato ketchup & French's American mustard. If there's some (non-home made (gasp)) mayo lying around, that might be added to the mix.

My guilty pleasures are the two things I crave most when I am feeling under the weather:
- peanut butter (crunchy, of course) and raspberry jelly on saltines
- oatmeal cream pies
I don't eat them or even crave them on a regular basis, but if I'm sick, someone had better be bringing me my pb&j and cream pies...

Lenn, I'm so pleased to see that someone else has a thing for Entemann's chocolate-covered donuts (it's a very guilty pleasure). No one else in my family cares for them, and it's hardly healthy to eat a whole box by myself.
They go much better with milk than Cabernet, though.
