John Iszard from Fulkerson Winery in the Finger Lakes sent me this picture of ready-to-pick chardonnay grapes this morning.
"This vineyard is right off Beartown Road adjacent to the winery and Route 14. Harvest is in full swing and our yields are up tremendously, with many 80 degree days for the past several weeks, it looks like a great harvest so far."

This time last year (and most years) it was just plain chilly by early October with frosty mornings and highs in the 60s with the afternoon sun.
It is 84 today, and there still hasn't been a drop of rain anywhere. The forecast looks promising for at least a few more days.
The unseasonably warm weather is the main news topic in upstate NY, and I'm curious what kind of a positive effect this will have on the grapes.
