Making wine locally and traditionally proves to be more of a favorite and is considered exotic for some. It's sad to hear that in some places the practice passed away with the older generations.

Luckily for people like me who love New York wine, land in the Fingerlakes (versus Napa) is reasonable enough that home winemakers can consider buying property and going professional.
