Lenn, you are right on about the Yarden chard being WAY over-oaked. I found their reds to be much, much better for my tastes and not nearly as oak-objectionable.

Lenn- I was surprised this year by 2003 Segal Cab/Merlot blend from Israel. I saw in Spectator that Israel has some decent scores and gave it a whirl. Not hideous at all, rather subtle. I'm not good at describing.
