Very cool, but Im again frustrated by this total conflation of terms. They cant call it a grappa cause it wasnt made from the pressings, not cause it hasnt been ages, thats actually why they shouldnt be calling it a brandy, unaged it IS an eau de vie, not like one.

hi Rowland, I did plenty of research, as you can imagine, before the product was labeled. Wine that becomes a spirit is a brandy - period, end of story. If it gets aged, great, that's up to the producer. But if it doesn't, the law only allows it to be called "immature".

Grappa is made from pumice, nothing else qualifies to be grappa.

Aged brandy is typically made from bland, nearly neutral grape varieties. Since this was made from the very noble Merlot, we decided it best to not adulterate the product with caramel, sugar, or oak. It is quite delicious the way it is believe me - and totally unique!

Frankly, it drinks like the prettiest, most delicate grappa type of spirit I've ever had. I'll gladly send you a sample.
